I’ve been working as a counsellor for more than twenty years, and when it became clear that this was becoming an enduring interest, I successfully applied to study for the Advanced Diploma in Counselling at Queen’s University, Belfast, which I completed in 2008.
Additionally I hold a Certificate in Couples Counselling awarded by PCI, Dublin.
I come to each session with a client equipped not only with my professional qualifications and my experience of working with many individuals, but also my understanding of life. I work differently with every client; while I refer to a combination of theoretical backgrounds, it is the relationship with the client which is vitally important.
I have been accredited with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists every year since 2009 and work according to the Association’s professional guidelines for conduct and ethics. I attend Supervision regularly as required by BACP and inform my practice through following new research and attending Professional Development courses.
